Sons Of Anarchy History

    The Sons of Anarchy or SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Originals) was founded in 1967 in Charming, Ca. by returning Vietnam veterans John Teller and Piney Winston after realizing that the country they fought for no longer wanted them and the only path to the freedom they longed for was to form a club with like minded people. John Teller, Piney Winston, Clay Morrow, Wally Grazer, Thomas "Uncle Tom" Whitney, Chico Vellenueva, Louis Maynard, Otto "L'il Killer" Moran, McGee were the first 9 to wear the Reaper colors as they all wanted the same thing...true freedom. Between 1967 and today 6 of the original 9 have passed away including Co-Founder John Teller who was killed in an accident in 1993. Only Piney,SAMCRO President Clay, and Belfast President McGee remain.
After Teller's death Clay Morrow took over the club and took the club into the gun running business along with protection runs for local businesses by protecting valuable truck shipments from hijacking They also protect Charming from outside gangs who try to manufacture and sell drugs, mainly methamphetamine, there.
SAMCRO has fought throughout the years with numerous rivals to maintain control their territory. In 1991 the Oakland based Mayans Motorcycle club attempted to expand their drug business leading to a two year war ending when the Mayans had heavy casualties and could longer continue the fight. 2008 was a never ending cycle of unrest for the club as issues with the Mayans, the Nords, and One-Niners took their toll but the biggest battle the Sons faced was from the ATF who wanted to destroy the club and would stop at nothing to accomplish that goal. By the time the smoke had cleared dissention within the club had led to the death of Opie Winston's wife and a fracture in the club between V.P. Jax Teller and President Clay Morrow.
2009 saw the continued problems within the club plus the addition of an outside threat to SAMCRO from the League of American Nationalists. After numerous mistakes and missteps the club was finally able to draw ranks and meet the threat head on to regain control of their territory.

The Sons of Anarchy have 28 chapters worldwide (Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, New England, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming) (Alberta and Manitoba in Canada.England, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands and Scandinavia.)
